Studio Hagen Hall
A financial framework for an award-winning design studio
Architecture, Interior and Product Design
From a 1970s North London terrace reimagined as a modernist California home for two young musicians, to a thoughtful refurbishment of a mid-century family home evoking a laid-back Laurel Canyon aesthetic, Studio Hagen Hall’s style is characterised by warmth, detail and a deep respect for craft.
When Louis Hagen Hall met Practice in 2021, he was running the studio as a sole designer. Awards from Dezeen and RIBA brought an influx of press coverage from Architectural Digest to Wallpaper*. But with acclaim came larger and more complex commissions.
With many of these projects unfolding over years, Studio Hagen Hall needed a business partner that could help them put down roots and navigate an increasingly complicated practice – everything from understanding cash, to planning for hires, studio moves and expansion to the US.
Practice started with the basics and built a financial framework that gave the studio a clear picture of daily income and expenditure which enabled Louis to anticipate the ebb-and-flow of project work.
Practice went on to support Studio Hagen Hall with bigger strategic challenges, and has been on-hand to help address questions around fees, hiring, international expansion, and most recently - how to develop products and bring them to market.
What began as an exercise to establish financial clarity, has grown into a partnership that gives Louis the confidence to lean-in to the next chapter - from sweeping architectural awards to new ventures in product design.
